How can an institution be partner of Legatum Initiative?

The public institutions of Latin-language countries which have audiovisual fonds/collections (photographs, moving images etc.) are invited to participate in the Legatum Initiative.

The repository previous stage of development was concluded in 2016 as a pilot experience to the initial actions. Now we’ve already done some official, institutional arrangements to continue the experience in this phase (2016-2019) of the research. The institution interested in taking part of the project in this stage, must contact the Legatum Repository administrator (, who shall make the initial insertion of the institution, funds and users description, according to our contact form ( This procedure aims to ensure the safety of each institution regarding the users permission to edit their own data and so to the operational and qualitative leveling of the data input.

The institutions that already use the software of description and provision of digital representatives (digital objects generated from digitization processes performed by the institutions which are part of the project), must not duplicate the data in Legatum Repository. Such institutions just need to fill in the form of the International Standard for Describing Institutions with Archival Holdings (ISDIAH, as available in the repository itself description tool), and inform the links to the holdings and other digital resources available on their web pages.

The archival description or the institution description to be available in Legatum Repository is a responsibility of each institution, as it reflects the informational and archival representations that better fits each profile, in addition to enable the input of their own digital representatives in the system to be accessed by the public.

The Legatum Repository offers to each institution the possibility to inform and keep the data in the way each one prefers, at the same time that exempts the Legatum Initiative responsibility about the data inserted by the institution.
